Premier League Week 4 Recap

Global SoccerBy: Gabrielle Nordstrom

Another thrilling weekend in the Premier League wraps up as Manchester City continues to dominate, Tottenham drops and Newcastle sneaks into the top three.

Reigning EPL Champions Manchester City continue to show why they are the reigning champions as they are the only team to open up the 2024-25 season with four straight wins. Erling Haaland continued to shine as he added his eighth and ninth goal against Brentford after going down 1-0 in the first minute.

Erling Haaland has more goals so far this season than any EPL team. His league-leading nine goals tops Chelsea, who has scored eight total goals this season. His own team, Manchester City has scored 11 goals, including his nine goals, in four games.

Arsenal pulled off a 1-0 win against Tottenham in the North London Derby. Arsenal climbed to second place while Tottenham dropped to 13. With just one win for the Spurs to begin the 2024-25 season, are changes needed to be made?

Nottingham Forest pulls off an impressive win over Liverpool to hand them their first loss of the season. This was the first time since 1969 Forest won on Arsenal’s home turf. No doubt the biggest upset so far this season.

A late comeback from Newcastle United spoiled what would have been Wolverhampton Wanderers. Newcastle was down 1-0 for the majority of the game until they tied it with 15 minutes left, and scored the game-winning goal with ten minutes left. With this win Newcastle moved into third place.

Manchester United pulled off a 3-0 win to gain their second win of the season. After only having three points from three games, pressure was on United to walk away with a win against a struggling, winless Southampton team. United now has six points in three games and sit at 10th place in the standings.
