Soccer balls come in sizes one, three, four and five. As you get older, the size of the ball grows.
Size 1: Circumference of 18”-20” , 7-8 ounces
The smallest soccer ball you could buy, they are also called mini-balls and good for any age. For young players just starting out, these are perfect because of the size. For older players, these balls are good to help with footwork and ball control.
Size two balls are typically skipped over because of their similarity to size one balls, but are recommended for three to five year olds.

The beginner ball for team play. This soccer ball is perfect for any players that are eight years old or younger.
Size 4: Circumference of 25”-26” , 11-13 ounces
Players aged 8-11 can be seen using size four balls. At this age if players are on a team, they will most likely be playing either 7v7 or 9v9. This is the last ball they will use before leveling up to the size professionals use.
Size 5: Circumference of 27”-28” , 14-16 ounces
This ball size is what every professional team and player uses. It is too big for young players to handle and control but the perfect size for anyone ages 12 and up. Usually when a team begins to play with a size five ball is when players start to play 11v11 on a field.
Futsal Balls
Futsal Balls are primarily used for indoor playing, which means the ball needs to adapt to the hard ground. These types of balls are heavier than regular soccer balls which creates less bounce.
Junior: Equivalent to Size 3 Soccer Ball
The junior futsal ball is equivalent to the size 3 soccer ball. Anyone under the age of 12 should be using this size.
Senior/Pro: Equivalent to Size 4 Soccer Ball
The senior futsal ball is equivalent to the size 4 soccer ball. This is the largest futsal ball available to purchase. It is smaller than a size 5 soccer ball, but weighs about the same. Anyone over the age of 12 will play with this size ball.
