After an electric quarterfinal round filled with upsets and penalty shootouts, the 2025 Gold Cup semifinals are set to take place on Wednesday, July 2.

The United States vs. Guatemala will play at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, at 7 p.m. ET, and Mexico vs. Honduras will play at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, at 10 p.m. ET.

Guatemala pulled off a major upset after defeating Canada 6-5 in penalty kicks. Goaltender Kenderson Navarro took over the starting role as Nicholas Hagen is out with an injury. Navarro had one save in the penalty shootout, which ultimately helped his team move on to the semifinals.

The United States advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks against Costa Rica. Midfielder Malik Tillman has three goals in four games and is looking to propel the USA into the finals.

Honduras also pulled off an upset against Panama after winning 5-4 in penalty kicks. Forward Romell Quioto is due to find the net again after having eight shots through the first four games and only one goal. Will he be able to score one and help Honduras advance to the final?

Mexico beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 to move on to the semifinals. Defender César Montes has been everything Mexico needed and more, scoring three goals in three games.

Guatemala and Honduras both are looking to win the title for the first time in history. The best finish  Guatemala has achieved in the Gold Cup is fourth place, while Honduras has made it to the final once and reached the semifinals four other times.

The United States and Mexico are no strangers to the Gold Cup final. The US has won seven titles and Mexico has won nine, including the most recent edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The 2000 final, featuring Colombia and Canada, was the last time and the only time the final did not involve one of these two countries.

The final will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, July 6, at 7 p.m. ET.
