As 2025 wraps up and we begin a new year, let’s look back at Soccer Post’s top 10 things from this year! Gabrielle Nordstrom, Joseph Reina, and Alexa Kolodgie from our creative team created a list of some of our favorite things from 2025.
adidas Trionda Released
The release of the official match ball of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ means the biggest tournament of the year is just around the corner. With the USA, Canada, and Mexico being the hosts, you can see a blue star for the US, a green eagle for Mexico, and a red maple leaf for Canada. With the release of the Trionda, the countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026™ is on!
adidas FIFA World Cup 2026™ Jerseys Drop
The first jersey releases before a World Cup are what really start to make it all feel real. After adidas released the Trionda, they followed it with a remarkable line of home jerseys for Argentina, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Japan, and Belgium. The tasteful mix of modern and retro design appeals to both avid soccer fans and casuals looking to gear up for 2026.
FIFA Club World Cup™
The First edition of the FIFA Club World Cup™ gave the United States a taste of the global game on our turf for the first time since 1994. The tournament featured 32 of the best teams from around the world, battling through the group stage and knockout rounds, ultimately crowning Chelsea FC champions after a dominant 3-0 win over PSG in the final.
Gotham FC’s Cinderella Story
Gotham FC, the true embodiment of the underdog, clinched the final playoff spot as the No. 8 seed and overcame the odds at every turn. They beat the most successful regular season team in NWSL history in the first round, beat the reigning champs in the semifinals, and beat their rivals in the finals. Staying true to their “Never Finished” drive, Gotham turned the seemingly impossible into history.
Successful Season for Our Partners
Soccer Post had an exciting season supporting our partner clubs every step of the way. Our partners, Gotham FC and Washington Spirit, went head-to-head in the finals, with Gotham coming out on top. Moments like this remind us why we’re so proud to support our partner clubs and their marketing needs, especially when it comes to fan gear. We are devoted to quality merchandise, supporting ecommerce efforts, celebrating team identity, and strengthening the connection between fans and their love for the game.
Liverpool Wins Premier League
After the hire of Arne Slot, Liverpool was an unstoppable force in the Premier League. With an impressive record of 25-9-4, Liverpool secured the title in April with games to spare. Liverpool became champions of England's top league for the 20th time in their history and just the second time since the Premier League started in 1992/93. Mohamed Salah was a massive factor in Liverpool’s win, finishing as the league’s top goal scorer with 29 goals.
Inter Miami Wins MLS Cup
After two unsuccessful attempts in 2023 and 2024, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami overcame their demons in 2025, with a dominant, emphatic run to the MLS Cup title. They’d won both the Leagues Cup and the Supporters’ Shield, but making it through the playoffs unscathed took a heroic third attempt, as they outscored their opponents 20-5 in their six playoff matches. A match-up with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Thomas Müller in the final went the way of Miami and Messi and Co. lifted the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy in front of their home crowd.
England Wins Women’s Euros
England notched their second Euro championship over the summer as they beat the reigning World Cup Champions, Spain, in penalties. Spain was favored to win the final, but England found a way to overcome those odds. Chloe Kelly scored the winning penalty while Hannah Hampton made save after save.
