What Does MDS Mean? - A History of Nike's MDS Line

Following the success of Nike’s signature shoe collaborative efforts, the brand pivoted in 2019. They began building up their high-profile athletes and celebrating their accomplishments and the constant push to dream with a new line of mercurial colorways. It became known as the Mercurial Dream Speed line, or MDS for short.

Initially, Nike honed in on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Sam Kerr, but since then, other major names have joined the fray, such as Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho. This impressive lineup was built with the ultimate goal being to connect the next generation, the dreamers, and the game’s top superstars through their shared love of the Nike Mercurial.

The designs continue to evolve with every new iteration, featuring gradients, intricate graphics, and reworked traditional elements to make a unique shoe, every single time. MDS 001, the line’s first edition, showed off a bespoke Mercurial design inspired by the blueprints that brought the shoe to life. More recently, the MDS 008 boasted a bright green, shattered-glass design meant to symbolize breaking through barriers.

The newest addition to the collection is the MDS 009, which features a barely green upper with metallic gold coin accents and a brand-new, textured design inside the Nike swoosh. Both the Superfly and Vapor styles are available online and in-store at many Soccer Post locations across the country!
